Sabbatai Zevi, (Shabbetay Ẓevi, other spellings include Sabetay Sevi in Turkish), (August 1, 1626 – c. September 17, 1676, in Dulcigno (present day Ulcinj), Montenegro) is a rabbi and kabbalist who claims to be the long-awaited Jewish Messiah.
Later he converts to Islam.
He is the founder of the Jewish Sabbatean movement.
Some of his followers also convert to Islam, about 300 families who are known as the Dönmeh (aka Dönme) (converts).
