Christian bishop
25 CE to 80 CE
Timothy (Greek: Timótheos, meaning "honoring God" or "honored by God") is a first-century Christian bishop who dies around the year 80.
The New Testament indicates that Timothy traveled with Saint Paul, who was also his mentor.
He is addressed as the recipient of the Epistles to Timothy.
Paul’s former assistant Timothy is eventually created bishop of Ephesus, and in about 80 is martyred here when he protests orgies accompanying the worship of Artemis.
