The Cham-Vietnamese War of 1471 begins when Emperor Lê Thánh Tông of Viet Nam (at this time known as Đại Việt) launches a military expedition that is widely regarded as marking the downfall of Champa.
The Vietnamese forces attack and sack the capital Vijaya, and decimate the Cham army.
As a result of the conflict, Champa is forced to cede territory to Vietnam and will hereafter ceases to pose a threat to Vietnamese territory.
