1703 CE to 1711 CE
Rákóczi's War of Independence (1703–11) is the first significant attempt to topple the rule of the Habsburgs over Hungary.
The war is fought by a group of wealthy and high-ranking progressive nobles and is led by Francis II Rákóczi.
The insurrection is unsuccessful, ended by the Treaty of Szatmár; however, the Hungarian nobility manages to partially satisfy Hungarian interests.
