Years: 125 - 125

Hadrian in about 125 rebuilds and enlarges an ancient town at the junction of the Tunca and Maritsa (Turkish: Meriç) rivers near the borders of modern Greece and Bulgaria, originally called Uskudama and probably first settled by Thracian tribes.

He renames it Hadrianopolis (known in English as "Adrianople").
