The Egyptian hieroglyphic script has been employed …
Years: 392 - 392
The Egyptian hieroglyphic script has been employed since 3100 BCE, but by the fourth century few Egyptians were capable of reading hieroglyphs, and the myth of allegorical hieroglyphs was ascendant.
Monumental use of hieroglyphs ceases in 391 after the closing of all non-Christian temples by Theodosius. (The last known inscription is from Philae, known as the The Graffito of Esmet-Akhom, from 396.)
