The Romans march again against the Quadi …
Years: 174 - 174
The Romans march again against the Quadi in 174, whereupon the tribe deposes its pro-Roman king, Furtius, and installs his rival, Ariogaesus, in his place.
Marcus Aurelius refuses to recognize him, and, turning back, deposes and exiles him to Alexandria.
Thus, by late 174, the subjugation of the Quadi is complete.
In typical Roman fashion, they are forced to surrender hostages and provide auxiliary contingents for the Roman army, while garrisons are installed throughout their territory.
