The Thai kingdoms of Ayutthaya and Chiang Mai go to war once again in 1492, this time over possession of a crystal statue of Buddha stolen by the Ayutthayan’s king’s son while visiting Chiang Mai as a Buddhist priest.
Chiang Mai King Phta Yot, his demands for the return of the statue unheeded, attacks Ayutthaya and forces its king, Ramathibodi II, to return the stolen statue.
