The Tibetans under Trisong Detsän begin invading the weakened provinces of imperial China’s weakened T'ang dynasty from 763 Sowing terror along the border with wanton destruction, arson, and killing, the Tibetans raid, at one point, as far as the capital at Chang’an, which they temporarily seize on November 18 and plunder.
Each time the Chinese forces succeed in defeating the Tibetans, the invaders retreat into their mountain strongholds and await another opportunity to attack.
