Old Great Bulgaria or Great Bulgaria is а term used by Byzantine historians to refer to the Maeotian Bulgar Khanate during the reign of Kubrat in the seventh century centered on Phanagoria north of the Caucasus mountains in the steppe between the Dniester and Lower Volga.
