Hungary, Democratic Republic of
Years: 1918 - 1919
The Hungarian People's Republic and Hungarian Republic are short-lived republics that exist, apart from a 133-day interruption, from late 1918 to early 1920.
They are established in the wake of the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire following the First World War.During this period, Hungary is forced to cede lands for the formation of nations based on majority-ethnic groups, who form Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Yugoslavia, made up of Serbians, Croatians and Slovenes.
The Hungarian republics replace the Kingdom of Hungary until its restoration in March 1920.
