King Cerdic of Wessex and his son Cynric according to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle defeat the Britons at Cerdicesleah (probably modern Chearsley, in Aylesbury).

The Anglo-Saxons, in 570, cross the Fosse Way—a Roman road in England which links Exeter (Isca Dumnoniorum) in South West England, to Lincoln (Lindum) in the East Midlands—to invade the region of present Buckinghamshire in south central England, and annex it to the Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Mercia.
