An outbreak of plague, possibly bubonic plague, strikes the forces of the Rashidun Caliphate, who have set up a military camp at the town of Emmaus during their conquest of Palestine.
An estimated that twenty-five thousand people die in this outbreak, known as the Plague of Emmaus, which is considered part of the sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-century plagues that had followed the Plague of Justinian, the major pandemic of the sixth century.
