Ayutthayan–Cambodian War of 1591-94

Years: 1591 - 1594

The Ayutthayan–Cambodian War (1591–1594), is a military conflict fought between the Kingdom of Ayutthaya and the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The war begins in 1591 when Ayutthaya invades Cambodia in response to continuous Cambodian raids into their territory.

The first invasion is interrupted before it achieves its goals.

The Ayutthayan king Naresuan returns two years later, eventually subjugating the whole country and finally sacking the city Longvek on January 3, 1594.

“The lack of a sense of history is the damnation of the modern world.”

― Robert Penn Warren, quoted by Chris Maser (1999)
