Brazilian Declaration of Independence

Years: 1821 - 1825

The Brazilian Declaration of Independence comprises a series of political events that occur in 1821-1825, most of which involve disputes between colonial Brazil and Portugal regarding the call for independence presented by the colony.

Although the conflict is not completely bloodless, it is much less violent than the wars for independence fought in Latin America.

"He who does not know how to give himself an account of three thousand years may remain in the dark, inexperienced, and live from day to day."

― Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, West-Eastern Divan
