Roman Gothic War, Fifth, or Gothic War (376–382)

Years: 376 - 382

The Gothic War (376–382) is the name given to a series of Gothic battles and plunderings of the eastern Roman Empire in the Balkans between about 376/377 and 382.

Thewar, and in particular the Battle of Adrianople is a major turning point in the history of the Roman Empire, the first barbarian invasion in a series of events over the next century that would see the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.

“History isn't about dates and places and wars. It's about the people who fill the spaces between them.”

― Jodi Picoult, The Storyteller (2013)
