Russo-Polish War of 1654-67

Years: 1654 - 1667

The Russo-Polish War of 1654–1667, also called the War for Ukraine, is the last major conflict between the Tsardom of Russia and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

Known in Poland as part of the "Deluge", the war ends with significant Russian territorial gains and marks the beginning of the rise of Russia as a great power in Eastern Europe.

“That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach.”

― Aldous Huxley, in Collected Essays (1959)
