The troubles in the upper valley of…
1876 CE to 1887 CE
The troubles in the upper valley of the Nam Ou continue.
Siamese commissioners have to assist Oun Kham in restoring order in 1876 and to prod him into reorganizing the towns under his rule.
Affairs remain in a state of flux for the next six years, and when in late 1882 Oun Kham appeals again to Bangkok for help against the Ho, the Siamese send a major military mission.
Subsequently, the Siamese maintain a permanent garrison at Luang Prabang.
