A congress of democratic and labor associations, with two hundred and thirty-four delegates representing eighty-nine organizations, meets in Frankfurt on June 14-16.

The Frankfurt parliament suspends the Diet of the Germanic Confederation on June 28 and appoints Archduke John of Austria Imperial Vice-Regent, but without military power or political authority.
