A Danish expedition is sent north in…
August 1676 CE
A Danish expedition is sent north in early August to take the town of Halmstad and then advance along the Swedish west coast to seek contact with General Gyldenløve's forces.
Charles XI of Sweden defeats the Danish mercenary force led by a Scotsman, General Duncan, at the Battle of Fyllebro on August 17, effectively preventing the linking of forces with the Norwegian army.
The Swedes then retreat north to gather more troops.
Christian V brings his army to Halmstad and besieges the town for a couple of weeks but gives up and returns to winter quarters in Scania.
