Mojmir—a Slavic chief—had formed the Moravian Kingdom early in the ninth century.
His two successors expand its domains to include Bohemia, Slovakia, southern Poland, and western Hungary.
The expanded kingdom becomes known as the Great Moravian Empire.
Its importance to Czech and Slovak history is that it unites in a single state the ancestors of the Czechs and Slovaks.
