A revolution breaks out in Baden on…
February 1848 CE
A revolution breaks out in Baden on February 27.
Radicalism had once more began to raise its head in Baden by 1847: on September 12 of that year, a popular demonstration held at Offenburg had passed resolutions demanding the conversion of the regular army into a national militia, which should take an oath to the constitution, as well as a progressive income tax, and a fair adjustment of the interests of capital and labor.
The news of the revolution of February 1848 in Paris brings agitation to a head.
Numerous public meetings are held and the Offenburg program is adopted.
