A small group in Oriente led by General Garcia and Antonio Maceo Grajales, protests in Los Mangos de Baraguá on March 15, even setting up a provisional constitution and government in opposition.
The provisional government convinces Maceo to give up, thus ending the war on May 28, 1878.
