Chiefs Peter McQueen and William Weatherford lead…
August 1813 CE
Chiefs Peter McQueen and William Weatherford lead an attack on Fort Mims, north of Mobile, on August 30, 1813.
The Red Sticks' goal is to strike at mixed-blood Creek of the Tensaw settlement who have taken refuge at the fort.
The warriors attack the fort, and kill a total of four hundred to five hundred people, including women and children and numerous white settlers.
The attack will become known as the Fort Mims Massacre and become a rallying cause for American militia.
