1892 CE
The Worthington Mine ore body was initially discovered in 1884 by Francis Charles Crean.
In 1891, the first mine shaft was sunk, with a small community being incorporated nearby the following year which is named after the Canadian Pacific Railway construction superintendent James Worthington, notable as the person responsible for the naming of Sudbury after his wife's hometown in England.
At this time, it is operated by the Dominion Mineral Company with two shafts at depths of thirty-five and ninety-five feet.
