Adam Miekewicz, having experienced a decline in creativity since his peak year of 1834, has become increasingly involved in mysticism and political activism.

When the Crimean War breaks out, he goes to Turkey to join the Polish military force, but contracts cholera and dies in Constantinople on November 26, 1855.
