Alexandre Brogniart, the director of the Sèvres…
1828 CE
Alexandre Brogniart, the director of the Sèvres porcelain manufactory, begins production in 1828 of fired enamel paintings on large panes of plate glass, for Louis-Philippe's royal chapel at Dreux, the traditional burial place of members of the House of Orléans.
This is the first large, significant commission in Gothic taste in decades.
