The ships had sighted the land of Trinidad on July 31 approaching from the southeast.
The fleet sails along the southern coast and enters Dragon's Mouth, anchoring near Soldado Rock, where they had made contact with a group of natives in canoes.
Columbus then lands on Trinidad at Icacos Point (which he names Punta de Arenal) on August 2.
