General Amos Hall, soon after Fort Niagara…
December 1813 CE
The day after the British cross the Niagara River the night of the 29th, Buffalo and the village of Black Rock are burned in a frenzy the next in the Battle of Buffalo.
The battle and subsequent fire are in response to the unprovoked destruction of Niagara-on-the-Lake, at this time known as "Newark," by American forces.
While many residents had been warned to leave beforehand, those that do not escape are tomahawked and scalped in the ensuing battle.
