The Confederation of the Equator begins in Pernambuco, Brazil, when wealthy landowners against the government of Emperor Pedro I initiate a secessionist movement for the independence of Pernambuco on July 2, 1824.

Manuel Paes de Andrade sends invitations to the others provinces of the north and northeast Brazil so that they can join Pernambuco and form the Confederation of the Equator.
