Britain annuls the Cyprus Convention and annexes…
1912 CE to 1923 CE
In 1915 Britain offers the island to Greece as an inducement to enter the war on its side, but King Constantine prefers a policy of benign neutrality and declines the offer.
Turkey recognizes the British annexation through the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne.
The treaty brings advantages to the new Turkish state that compensate it for its loss of the island.
