December 1946 CE
Late in 1946, the British sentence two seventeen-year-old Irgunists to fifteen years imprisonment; they are also to receive eighteen lashes each.
The Irgun's response is immediate: they announce that if the sentence is carried out, they will retaliate by whipping British soldiers.
On December 27, 1946, one of the two prisoners is whipped, and on December 29, a major and three NCOs are captured by Irgunists and given the same eighteen lashes.
The Irgun announces that if the second youth is caned they will kill in retaliation.
