Prussia gives up its own plans for a union of the German states, without Austria, by the Olmützer Punktation (Punctation of Olmtz) of November 29, 1850.

The Prussians agree to the restoration of the German Confederation, which takes over the leadership, and the old order is fully reestablished in all its weakness and inadequacy.
