‘Coolie” is a term for manual laborers…
April 1862 CE
‘Coolie” is a term for manual laborers from Asia, particularly China and India.
Americans ridicule British use of Asian laborers on their newly "emancipated" colonial possessions as replacing one form of slavery with another.

In 1862, President Abraham Lincoln signs "An Act to Prohibit the ‘Coolie Trade.'"
