Excitement on the Discovery is very high…
November 1610 CE
Excitement on the Discovery is very high due to the expectation that the ship has finally found the Northwest Passage through the continent.
The explorers had on June 25 reached the Hudson Strait at the northern tip of Labrador.
Following the southern coast of the strait on August 2, the ship had entered Hudson Bay.
Hudson and his crew have spent the ensuing months mapping and exploring its eastern shores without finding a passage to Asia.
The ship becomes trapped in the ice in the James Bay in November, however, and the crew moves ashore for the winter.
