Hundreds of mountain men, tribesmen, and fur…
July 1832 CE
Hundreds of mountain men, tribesmen, and fur company traders meet to sell furs or trade for supplies at Pierre's Hole, the site of the Rendezvous of 1832.
At the end of the rendezvous, an intense battle ensues between a group of Gros Ventres and the party of American trappers aided by their Nez Perce and Salish, or Flathead, allies.
At least twenty-six Gros Ventres die in the brief but bloody battle, including some women and children, and perhaps a dozen traders and Flatheads.
William Sublette, under the care of Robert Campbell, will return to the eastern United States due to a bullet wound and a broken shoulder.
The party will arrive in St. Louis on October 3, 1832.
