Vincenzo Bellini, now composing for the Italian…
1835 CE
Vincenzo Bellini, now composing for the Italian Theater in Paris and greatly loved by the city’s leading artists and musicians, produces I Puritani, noted for its classic mad scene and beautiful melodies, in 1835.
I Puritani is Bellini’s eighth and, as it happens, final opera: the thirty-three-year-old composer becomes suddenly ill and dies within months of the opera’s premiere performance.
