Volk's Electric Railway is constructed along the eastern seafront at Brighton, England, in 1883 by Magnus Volk.
This two kilometer line, re-gauged from constructs his 2 feet (610 mm) gauge to 2 feet 9 inches (840 mm) in 1884, remains in service to this day, and is the oldest operating electric tramway in the world.
