The cholera outbreak in Hamburg, the only major European outbreak, kills eighty-six hundred people in 1892.

Although the city government is generally held responsible for the virulence of the epidemic (leading to cholera riots in 1893, it goes largely unchanged.

This is the last serious European cholera outbreak, as cities improve their sanitation and water systems.
