The military defeat of Serbia's King Milan…
1889 CE
The military defeat of Serbia's King Milan I, together with the scandals of his personal life and his dependence on Austria, aggravates domestic discontent, which he tries to assuage by granting a more liberal constitution in January 1889.
His position is damaged beyond repair, however, and Milan is compelled in March to pass the Serbian crown to a regency in the name of his son Aleksandar.
