A Bilu group—Bilu are the first letters of a passage in Isaiah, Chapter 2, Verse 5: “House of Jacob, come, let us go”— in Constantinopl issues a manifesto in the wake of the 1882 pogrom calling for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine within the Turkish empire.
The Biluim, about five hundred young people from the Kharkov region, are part of the wider movement of Hibbat Ziyyon.
