Guglielmo Marconi's Wireless Telegraph and Signal Company,…
December 1900 CE
Guglielmo Marconi's Wireless Telegraph and Signal Company, Ltd., whose supporters include Tesla's old adversary Thomas Edison and one-time associate Michael Pupin, makes a stock offering that investors rush to buy. (The company's name is changed to Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company, Ltd.).
On December 12th, 1900, Marconi sends the first transatlantic signal, the letter "S," from Poldhu in Cornwall, England to St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada.
This achievement creates an immense sensation in every part of the civilized world.
The financiers noet that Marconi accomplishes this with equipment much less costly than that being built by Tesla at Shoreham.
