Lieutenant General Garnet Wolseley has been placed…
September 1882 CE
Lieutenant General Garnet Wolseley has been placed in charge of a large force with the aim of destroying Urabi's regime and restoring the nominal authority of the Khedive Tawfiq.
The total force is twenty-four thouand British troops, which concentrate in Malta and Cyprus, and a force of seven thousand Indian troops that stages through Aden.
Wolseley had first tried to reach Cairo directly from Alexandria, but Urabi has deployed his troops at Kafr-el-Dawwar between Cairo and Alexandria and prepares very substantial defenses.
The British succeed in defeating the Egyptian Army at Tel El Kebir in September and take charge of the country putting Tawfiq back in power.
