Maidstone, once a Roman post and now…
1549 CE
Maidstone, once a Roman post and now a thriving market town, is chartered in 1549 and a grammar school is founded.
Although situated in the heart of the so-called Garden of England, the town center, as the county town of Kent, will grow to host the largest office center in the county today, its area a base for the paper and packaging industry.
Many high-technology firms will set up on surrounding business parks in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
