The general membership of the Haganah serves…
1941 CE
The general membership of the Haganah serves on a part-time basis, but a full-time commando force, the Palmach (Hebrew acronym for Pluggot Machatz, "Shock Companies") is organized in 1941.
The British train Jewish commando units and they also give Jewish volunteers intensive training in sabotage, demolition, and partisan warfare. (Ironically, this training will prove indispensable in the Yishuv's efforts after the war to force the British to withdraw from Palestine.)
