Menachem Ussishkin, as president of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) between 1923 and 1941, has devoted himself to the aim of acquiring land as the property of the Jewish nation.

He has made trips to Europe and Canada to raise funds and undertaken difficult negotiations to acquire large tracts of land for the JNF.

During his tenure, he has increased the possessions of the JNF twenty-five-fold.
