1832 CE
Mexico’s federalists ask Antonio López de Santa Anna to overthrow Anastasio Bustamante and he does, declaring General Manuel Gómez Pedraza (who had won the electoral vote back in 1828) as the "true" president.
Elections take place, and Santa Ana takes office in 1832.
Bustamante had been forced to flee for his life; Francisco Picaluga, an Italian ship captain and former friend of Guerrero, who had conspired with Bustamante to capture Guerrero, is executed.
