April 1464 CE
Neville, leading a modest force of three thousand to four thousand Yorkists, routs the rebel Lancastrians on April 25 at the relatively bloodless Battle of Hedgeley Moor.
Neville has thirty leading Lancastrians executed, including the Duke of Somerset and Lord Roos.
Sir William Tailboys is captured while attempting to flee north with two thousand pounds of Henry's war chest and is executed shortly after.
Henry VI, however, is kept safely away (having been captured in battle three times earlier in his life), and escapes with his queen to the north.
The defeat and dispersal of the Lancastrian forces makes it possible for the Scottish negotiators to be safely escorted to York, where a peaceful solution is successfully negotiated.
Organized Lancastrian resistance in the North of England, deprived of leadership and funds, collapses, and will remain in this state for several years, although several castles with their Lancastrian commanders still hold out.
