A civilian Libyan airliner headed for a routine landing at Cairo International Airport, but having strayed off course in a dust storm over Israeli-occupied Sinai, is one minute flight time from the Suez Canal, for which it is heading, when shot down by the Israeli Air Force, with a loss of one hundred and six passengers and five crewmembers, on February 23, 1973.
