The Nashville Convention reconvenes for a second…
November 1850 CE
The Nashville Convention reconvenes for a second session on November 11-18, six weeks after the U.S. Congress enacts the Compromise of 1850.
This time, however, there are far fewer delegates, leaving the extremists in control.
Although they reject the Compromise of 1850 and call upon the South to secede, most Southerners are relieved to have the sectional strife seemingly resolved, and the second session of the Nashville Convention has little impact.
